Insecurity in the North is Under-reported – NNPO Coordinator

Published

on

Despite the daily media reports of the activities of bandits and other criminal elements, especially in the northern parts of the country, a group known as Nigeria Needs Peter Obi (NNPO) has asserted that insecurity in the region is under-reported.

This opinion was expressed by the FCT Coordinator of the organization, Chigbo Nwafor in an interview with Arise Television in Abuja.

According to Nwafor, the level of insecurity in the region is in unimaginable proportions to the extent that even in President Buhari’s state of Katsina, no day passes without scores of people being kidnapped for ransome or outrightly killed.

He decried the situation where helicopters have to be deployed to fly over the Abuja-Kaduna highway to facilitate the passage of highly placed government officials and favoured politicians while the common people are left to their fate.

Nwafor charged journalists to be more investigative in reporting the scourge of banditry and kidnappings in order to expose those behind the criminalities.

On the chances of the Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi in the forthcoming elections, the NNPO Coordinator said he stands out amongst the candidates jostling for the position, as his support base is organic rather than being sponsored.

Peter Obi, according to him, remains the only candidate without any baggage, and whose record of achievements are cogent and verifiable.
