EBONYI MUSLIMS EXTOL GOVERNOR UMAHI’S PATRIOTISM , ASKS HIM TO OFFER HIMSELF FOR GREATER NATIONAL SERVICE.

The Muslim Community in Ebonyi State has extolled the leadership qualities and sense of commitment to nation unity exhibited by the Governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency Engr Chief David Nweze Umahi FNSE FNATE ( Akubaraoha) in the last six years. The group made this declaration when they paid a Sallah visit to the Governor of Ebonyi at the State Executive Council Chambers, old Government House Abakaliki.

The group affirmed their resolve to support the programmes and policies of the administration of Governor Umahi describing him as dynamic and foresighted leader who has brought unprecedented transformation in Ebonyi State.

In a Communiqué signed by the Council of Ulama and Leaders of Muslim Forum Ebonyi State Chapter, the group passed a Vote of Confidence on the Governor and urged him to offer himself for greater national service in the interest of national development.

In his response, the Governor represented by his Deputy, His Excellency Barr. Eric Kelechi Igwe PhD commended the Muslim Community for the well thought Communique and the warm sentiments rendered by them on the modest achievements of his administration. He further appreciated them for their promise of commitment to the security of the state and urged them to assist security agencies and the State government by giving information on any form of threat to the peace and security of the state.The five- point Communiqué reads:

We the members of the Muslim Forum, Ebonyi State hereby resolve as follows;

1. That we as Muslims and peace loving Nigerians pass a vote of confidence on the Executive Governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency, Engr. Dr. David Nweze Umahi, FNSE FNATE (Akubaraoha)

2. That we have resolved as a group to provide security reports to the Chief Security Officer of Ebonyi State, who is the Governor at any time we observe any security threat as a support for his good governance.

3. That we shall stop anyone or group of people who in any form attempt to undermine the security of the state or destroy the infrastructure put in place by our dear Governor.

4. That we appreciate His Excellency’s dynamism and foresightedness in leadership, hence, his Party (APC) is our party and his enemy, we shall abhore.

5. That we plead with His Excellency, Engr. Dr. David Nweze Umahi to make himself available for National Service in 2023, in Shaa Allah.

Ayu Steps Down as PDP Chairman

The National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Senator Iyorchia Ayu has stepped aside as the chairman of the party.

Ayu was replaced by the Deputy National Chairman, (North) Umar Iliya Damagum.

Damagum will assume office as the Acting National Chairman of the PDP, pending the determination of the case in court.

When asked about the party members’ reactions to the suspension and how the party planned to move forward, Damagum said, “As a party, we are prone to reconciliation. We will review it, we will have an NWC (National Working Committee) meeting tomorrow (Wednesday) and in that meeting we will discuss it, and there will be possible review of whatever is happening.”

It will be recalled that a Makurdi High Court presided over by Justice Wilfred Igba Kpochi on Monday order Ayu to stop parading himself as the National Chairman of the Party pending the determination of issues before the court regarding his leadership.

Imo LP Gubernatorial Aspirant, Anumudu Dies in ‘Mysterious’ Circumstances

A frontline Labour Party(LP) governorship aspirant in Imo State,Chief Humphrey Anumudu has been reported dead im ‘mysterious’ circumstances.

Sources close to the family disclosed that Anumudu, a native of Mbieri in Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo state died last night at his residence in Lagos State.

The deceased, a younger brother to the pioneer CEO of Globe Motors,Willy Anumudu was said to have passed on last night(Friday) in what the family source described as a “mystery”.

Anumudu recently procured the Labour Party’s governorship interest form at Abuja, and is said to be among the favorites to win the party’s primary slated for early next month.

Described as an astute politician, legal luminary and a good ambassador of the State, the late Anumudu has contested for the Governorship election in the past on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance(APGA).

Alex Otti of Labour Party Wins Abia Governorship

After a whole lot of drama that attended conduct of the gubernatorial election in Abia State, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has finally declared Alex Otti of the Labour Party the Governor-elect.

Otti garnered 175,467 votes to defeat his closest rival, Okey Ahiwe of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who scored 88,529 votes.
