At Last, New Attah Igala Emerges

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has today announced the appointment of Prince Matthew Opaluwa as the Attah Igala designate following the transition of the former occupant of the paramount stool of the Igala Kingdom.

The announcement was made during the State’s Executive Council meeting in Lokoja.

The new Attah Igala, Prince Matthew Opaluwa Oguche is the 9th of the Sixteen surviving children and 4th of the six male children of Late Chief Opaluwa Oguche.

He had his First School Leaving Certificate(FSLC) from the St. Boniface Primary School, Idah in 1975 and proceeded to St. Peter’s College, Idah and obtained his West African Schools Certificate (WASC) in 1980

He obtained an “A” level from the School of Basic Studies, Ugbokolo in 1983 and a Bachelors of Science(BSc.) in Business Administration from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 1986.

The Prince was again at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria for Postgraduate Studies and acquired a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) in 1997.

Prince Matthew was, until his appointment, a Deputy Director with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) where he has worked for over 30 years.

Former Kogi Governor, Ibrahim Idris Loses Son, Hon Mohammed

Reports reaching SunriseNigeria indicate that former member of the House of Representatives, Hon Mohammed Ibrahim Idris has died.

Mohammed, son of a former governor of Kogi State,  Alhaji Ibrahim Idris reportedly slumped and died on Wednesday while preparing to go for the Eid-el-Fitr prayers.

BREAKING: FG Approves Thursday As Additional Public Holiday For Eid-el-Fitr

The Federal Government has declared Thursday, April 11, 2024, as additional public holiday to commemorate Eid-El-Fitr.

This was made known in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Dr Aishetu Ndayako, shared on the ministry’s X account on Tuesday.

The statement said, “The Federal Government has approved Thursday, April 11, 2024 as an additional public holiday to celebrate this year’s Eid -El-Fitr.

“The Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, while congratulating the Muslim Ummah for a successful completion of a month of spiritual rejuvenation, reiterates President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s firm commitment to providing a safe and prosperous Nigeria for all to thrive.”
